Welcome! During the home loan process, we ask our clients a lot of questions to successfully process their applications. So it seemed only fair that we turn the tables around for a few moments and asked our employees some questions for you to get to know them better………
- How did you choose to be in this line of work? I have always liked numbers and working with people. My journey in finance began in my teenage years. My oldest brother, who is 9 years older than me, was graduating from college in ag finance. He was going to be working with farmers and ranchers, and helping them finance their operations. I started working on a farm at 15, so I was intrigued by what he was doing. I ended up graduating with the same degree as he had, and then going to work for the same company that he was. I am certain he is tired of his little brother following him around. Well, after 10 years of working there, the company did a substantial lay off, and I was left looking for a new job, with a wife and two kids. The nearest branch with the company was Wolf Point, Montana. I was fairly certain that my wife did not want to live there. She does not like to be cold. So, I started in the mortgage business. After nine years as a mortgage broker, I met my business parter, and we operated our own mortgage brokerage for over 20 years. Then, retirement came to my partner, and I decided I wanted more time for myself. So, I closed the brokerage and joined Welcome Home Loans. I have known Philip Dunn for many years, and he and his staff have a great reputation. So, as of January 5, 2026, here I am.
- What is a guilty pleasure? Homemade popcorn with lots of butter and salt. Which is funny because, when I was 3 years old, while eating popcorn, I inhaled a popcorn seed into my lung and had to go to the hospital to have it removed. You would have thought that I would never touch popcorn again. Wrong!
- Favorite food?Prime rib or ribeye steak. Of course, barbecued by me so it doesn’t get overcooked. Rare please.
- What is a vacation spot still on your bucket list? Fly fishing in Alaska.
- Why do you love the mortgage industry?I love helping people with personal finances and educating them about the whole process.
